May 2, 2010. #5. Now for "holes in the ground full of treasure" the wild west had Gold Mines, which can make for an ideal dungeon. Of course you've got to dig them first before they become overrun by monsters. You could play with this, perhaps, by having there be a "second gold rush" in the setting.

One of the more unique settings for a Dungeons & Dragons game is the wild west. The combination of adventure and magic of D&D, with chaos, ambitions, and lawlessness of western themes can create fun and memorable stories. RELATED: Tips For Making A Country Western Themed D&D Campaign

While we may or may not end up doing it, it did get me thinking of good classes/subclasses that'd work in the setting, beyond the obvious Gunslinger Fighter.

The Wicked West game takes place in a world similar but distinctly different from our own. Non-human races exist but magic is rare and often evil. Demons and undead prey on the living, posses of God fearing folk hunt very real and very dangerous witches, and shamans traffic with real spirits and gods. Rules Classes Hellscapes Classes

The important thing here is "role." In a Wild West fantasy pastiche, there are lots of roles to fill, but they don't have to be 1 for 1. Establishing the Western trope, relating it to a fantasy trope, and then adding a twist is half the fun. Oh, and don't forget the bards: they become singing cowboys in this mashup. 😁.

Wild West Setting for D&D 5e - Tribal Shaman NPC. Michael Long. January 25, 2016. I put together a 5th edition Gunfighter Class for player characters recently. I think it fits well into an 1870's Wild West campaign that I've been working on. Wild West was one of the first homebrew settings that I put together when 5th edition came out in.

The Wild West is a general term for any sort of game involving the typical Hollywood-Cowboy type of setting, typically complete with deserts, bandits, and Native Americans. Western movies tend to focus on the combat or roleplay pillar, with combat typically being very grounded and filled with firearms. But I'm sure most of you knew all that.

Homebrew (I think I tagged this wrong last time, so here goes again). For the past few weeks I've had the idea for a Wild West style campaign setting rattling around in my brain. I think it'd be a really interesting environment for D&D, and I don't imagine that there would need to be that many rules changes (other than cosmetic) to make it work.
