Wadi Tiwi is well signposted off Oman's Route 17, 180km/two hours south of Muscat and 54km/an hour north of Sur. We drove from Muscat, travelling through the southern end of the Al Hajar Mountains toward the sea where the road joins the coast at Quriyat. Here we took a detour off Route 17 to the beach by Flamingo Lake for our packed breakfast.
