The Heysel Exhibition Park is known for hosting the Brussels International Exposition in 1935 and Expo in 1958. The iconic Atomium built for the World's Fair in 1958 is considered as the most iconic monument in the Heysel Park. Currently being used for trade fairs, The Centenary Palace was once a venue for the 32nd Eurovision Song Contest Grand Prix in 1987.

The Heysel Plateau consists of large green spaces. Osseghem Park , at the foot of the Atomium, is a calm and pleasant place. The English-style parks are ideal for romantic walks. Another place of international renown is the Royal Greenhouses of Laeken which open their doors to the public every year in April and May.
